A Mayflower Presentation

Outside the Box – Christy Johnson
In preparation for Thanksgiving, RSI students enjoyed a presentation by the Mayflower Society. One of the RSI students is a direct descendent of the Mayflower voyagers and her grandmother is a member of the Mayflower Society. Dressed in period attire, the two presenters discussed the struggles, challenges, and victories of being part of the Mayflower voyage. The students enjoyed getting to look at model replicas of the Mayflower ship. The Renascence School International would like to thank the Mayflower Society for the great educational books they donated to the RSI library! Read More

Smiles, laughter and love at RSI on Veteran’s Day! Grandparents were invited to join students at school Monday! Grandparents arrived to a warm welcome and refreshments. This was followed by time spent in the classroom with students. They enjoyed helping their students do crafts, listening to their students read grandparent-themed poems, and watching the students sing and dance. RSI served delicious food, and set aside a special time to honor military veterans.  The children had a wonderful time looking through books and shopping with their grandparents at the Scholastic Book Fair! RSI Celebrates Dia de los Muertos!

Outside the Box – Christy Johnson
Students at the Renascence School International celebrated a Latin holiday, Dia De Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) on November 1st. The students learned that this is not a time to fear, but a time of remembrance for the generations before us and for those who are no longer with us.
There are four things that the Latin culture uses to remember their loved ones: Foto (photo), Vela (candle), Flor (flower) and Altar (altar). Some teachers had an ofrenda memorial set up in their classrooms and students enjoyed a variety of crafts based around this special holiday! Read More

RSI is all about being prepared!

Outside the Box – Christy Johnson

Preparedness is one of the keys to staying safe! The administration and teachers at the Renascence School International are doing everything they can to ensure the safety of their students in case of the event of an earthquake or fire.

RSI participated in the nationwide earthquake safety drill on Oct. 18th and a fire safety drill on Oct. 11th. The teachers were able to practice the emergency procedures that they have been trained to perform, while remaining calm and setting a good example for the students. The students did a great job of following directions while remaining calm and listening to their teachers. When all parties were cleared, the teachers brought all students to the safe zone. The drills were successful and both teachers and students are now better prepared for different types of emergency situations. Read More
