This week Renascence School International Orange County Campus students explored the world by playing musical instruments. Their music teacher, Miss Molly, brought in many instruments from different parts of Asia. A class favorite was the one-stringed instrument called Ektara. This instrument is often used in traditional music from Bangledash, India, Egypt and Pakistan. They also had the opportunity to dance to traditional Hindu music of which Ektara and Kirtan hymns are commonly used. The students are learning more than just Chinese and Spanish at the ’40 Days Around the World’ summer camp, they are learning the language of music!
